SIMPLE MUSIC FOR DIFFICULT PEOPLE

Inspired by the craftsmanship and poetry of mechanical art, Simple Music for Difficult People is an ongoing series of original music where guitar, technology and automata meet.

The project grew out of my fascination with contemporary mechanical sculpture and has led to collaborations with automata makers including François Junod, Keith Newstead, Teun de Vijs and Hideki Higashino. Their work shares something I also look for in music: precision, intricacy, craftsmanship, and a sense of wonder.

Across the series, the guitar becomes both an instrument and a source of transformation, moving between composition, sound processing, unusual techniques and visual ideas.
